Official Gazetting Of Uyo Local Government Bye Law: Another Feather In Dr. Udo’s Cap
The Dr. Uwemedimo Udo led administration in Uyo Local Government Area has no doubt recorded several feats within three months.
The latest being the official assent and gazetting of Uyo Local Government Bye Law, 2021.
Recall that the 7th Uyo Local Government Legislative Council, led by Hon. Ubong Effiong had on Thursday, February 25, 2021, passed bills that sought to harmonize the collection of all revenues due to the local government and the bills were assented to by the Executive Chairman, Dr. Udo as they became a Bye Law of the local government.
The Bye Law, which has now been gazetted and published shall provide Uyo Local Government with the needed legal framework for effective and enhanced revenue generation.
The gazetted Bye Law which shall be made public soon, shall be binding on all the business operators within the capital city of Akwa Ibom State.
It might interest you to know that the journey to the actualization of a Reviewed Bye Law for Uyo Local Government began on January 5, 2021, when the Executive Chairman, Dr. Udo sent the draft executive bills to the legislature for consideration.
The bills numbering 17, which cut across economic and social activities in Uyo Local Government Area, passed through all the legislative processes including public hearing at the multipurpose hall of Uyo Local Government Council Secretariat on January 26, 2021. Today, Uyo Local Government can boast of Bye Laws that are officially gazetted.
