IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu reveaIs ESN’s main target
Eastern Security Network (ESN), the armed wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is not after ordinary citizens or any tribe or religion, its leader has said.
Nnamdi Kanu said the proscribed group was after terrorists because “terrorists kill people, regardless of tribe/religion”.
“If you’ve a problem with that, you’re either a terrorist or a slave,” he added in a tweet on April 13.

His message comes a few days after Southeast governors announced the formation of a joint security outfit, Ebubeagu, headquartered in Enugu State.
The security outfit would checkmate terrorism and banditry in the South East.
The governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, who is the Chairman of the South-East Governors Forum, said on Sunday that “the five southeast states are on the same page with the federal government on the issue of security challenges in the country,” adding that “the Southeast will stand resolutely with the federal government to fight terrorists and bandits to a finish”.
Meanwhile, Kanu who’s seeking an independent nation for the Igbos, had clarified that ESN was not a Biafran Army formed to forcefully restore Biafra, but a vigilante to checkmate the activities of terrorists and rapists.
“This outfit which is a vigilante group like the Amotekun in the South West and the Miyetti Allah security outfit will ensure the safety of our forests and farm lands which terrorists have converted into slaughter grounds and raping fields,” he said.
Since its formation, ESN and Nigerian security forces have clashed a number of times leading to the loss of lives and destruction of property.
