Suspected Gunrunner Arrested With Two AK-47, Pistol In Kogi

One man identified as Mohammed Bako has been arrested by Kogi State Police Command, with two AK-47 rifles, a locally fabricated pistol and 41 rounds of ammunition.

The development was disclosed by the spokesman of the state police command, DSP Williams Aya, in a statement released in Lokoja.

Aya in his statement noted that the suspect was apprehended by police operatives on Idah-Ayingba road during a stop-and-search operation.

The spokesman further stated that Bako was found in possession of one locally made Baretta Pistol and 6.7mm ammunition hidden in a sack while travelling in a commercial vehicle.

He disclosed that Bako who hailed from Koton-Kafe immediately confessed ownership of the arms and ammunition.

Aya added that investigation into the incident has started and the suspect would be arraigned in court on completion of the investigation.

He noted the policy is determined to work with other security agencies in the state to ensure adequate security of lives and property.
