Great Flood – Scientist Claims Mt Everest was once at The Bottom of The Sea – Athiests Fight on Social Media !
The peak of Mount Everest is made up of rock that was once submerged beneath the Tethys Sea, an open waterway that existed between the Indian subcontinent and Asia over 400 million years ago.
What created Mount Everest?
Rising at the border of Tibet and Nepal, Mount Everest formed from a tectonic smashup between the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates tens of millions of years ago. The collision crumpled the landscape, raising mountains along some 1,5000 miles, a range we know as the Himalaya.
Who went to Everest without oxygen?
Sometime between 1 and 2 in the afternoon on May 8, 1978, Messner and Habeler achieved what was believed to be impossible—the first ascent of Mt. Everest without oxygen. Messner described his feeling: “In my state of spiritual abstraction, I no longer belong to myself and to my eyesight.

Actually, The Flood was so violent, it literally created places Mount Everest, just thousands of years ago, not millions of years ago.
Jeph Noe
David Triplett the flood would’ve required more water than the whole amount of water on earth. Also…did literally almost all of human civilization forget that they had and knew how to use BOATS?
one more question…..when the waters receded after the flood, what did the animals eat?
6
Jeph Noe the ark took many years of preparation before the flood. People couldn’t just hop in their boat and survive a forty day storm. And there was plenty of food to eat after the flood. The ocean and seas have always been a good source of food for everyone on the planet. If Noah and his family could feed the animals on the ark, why would you think they had a problem feeding them after the waters began to recede?
90
David Triplett Did Noah have an annex for the aquariums or were marine animals not considered evil enough to be destroyed?
35
David Triplett lions, wolves, bears and other apex predators would’ve eaten every prey animal on the ark, all the way down the food chain and salt water wildlife cannot live in fresh water. FRESH WATER wildlife CAN NOT survive in brackish water, let alone SALT water.
But you’re gonna, with a straight face say that penguins, adapted for subfreezing temperatures, crossed an ocean to get to the tropics, and then walked THROUGH THE FRAKKING ARID DESERT, with no food for what, a thousand miles, to get onto a boat? With practically ALL plant life being dead after the waters went wherever TF they went? You can’t actually be this stupid…
85
Bart Hendrix you argue vehemently about something you appear to have never studied so dismiss flippantly. I encourage you to get a king james bible and read genesis.
70
Terry Hawthorne Your position must be pretty tenuous if you consider one simple question to be a vehement argument. I would to know what you believe the fate of marine animals was at the time of the flood. If God’s intent for Noah was only to save species that could not swim, what was his/her purpose for the flood?
I have KJV. What I don’t have is evidence that a limited selection of many writings done years after the original teachings have been accurately translated from Aramaic to English and that they were intended as literal rather than figurative.
26
Terry Hawthorne is not a source for scientific study or correct history study.
3
Jeph Noe the flood people wouldn’t just let up..there NEVER WAS BIBLICAL FLOOD..
15
Francois Kayihura the flood people…wouldn’t just let up? What do you mean? That could be taken several ways…. In today’s world, that sounds ;
2
Jeph Noe I know of no person incapable of sin. But before I disagree I want to make certain we are on the same page. Is Leviticus 18:22 the verse to which you are referring?
10
Terry Hawthorne yep.
Jeph Noe that’s funny. There were only 2 that stepped off the ark. Please read Genesis, every living creature was a vegetarian. Even humans. This changed after the flood.
33
Norman Ketchie opinions do not provide proof. Let’s hear your opinion on scientific study and “correct” history study.
10
Norman Ketchie I never offered myself for any study but thank you for the consideration
6
Terry Hawthorne Why the King James Bible? Why not the many other versions written before the KJV that are closer to the original documents.? And BTW, I have read the Bible, cover to cover. Reading it is what made me an atheist.
35
Jeph Noe you can’t talk sense to these people. They believe in magic.
10
Dont forget sloths — which travel about 20 ft a day, and cant swim….
5
Terry Hawthorne The question is why take the Bible as the authority? Why not a different religious book?
4
Grant Hunder actually, a better question is why are they reading it literally. Those are allegories. It should have been obvious without the advancements in science in the intervening years — for example, people in the ancient world had seen snakes, and knew they can’t talk — but especially now, we know it’s allegory.
It is Truth, with a capital T, but it’s not factual, or is it intended to be. It’s not a science book, it’s a spiritual book.
As long as people read it that way, there’s no conflict. And that’s the mainstream interpretation, taught by the Jesuit Order of the Roman Catholic Church (most Catholic schools are run by the Jesuits).
6
John Tadler sorry to hear that brother, the other bibles have words changed in them. The KJV is the closest we can get to the manuscripts. My Bible translates each word to the root with definitions in Greek and Hebrew. If you don’t mind my asking, what was it that made you an atheist?
13
” Why not the many other versions written before the KJV that are closer to the original documents.? “
I think you mean AFTER the KJV…….the KJV was a very early version.
“And BTW, I have read the Bible, cover to cover. Reading it is what made me an atheist.”
I’m disappointed, man.
You’re making the same mistake as the guy who thought the flood happened literally.
You are not supposed to read it literally!!! It’s an allegory!!!
It sounds you have committed the straw man fallacy…..but against yourself….which makes it even worse.
I’m not an expert; as a Deist, I do not subscribe to any particular organized religion, although I respect all, as long as they aren’t fundamentalist.
Here’s one of many possible interpretations of the lesson of the flood.
DESIRINGGOD.ORG
God’s Covenant with Noah

Brian Mueller I know that its allegory. Its still mostly nonsense. And the KJV isn’t a “very early version.” it only dates from 1611, so its been around for a little more than 400 years, as compared to over 1,800 years for the first texts of the New Testament that we’re aware of. It is the most popular English language version though.
4
Jeph Noe The Flood was local. But about your objections to the global flood viewpoint, note that marine animals were not included on the ark, only land animals; marine animals survived in oceanic waters which remained salty.
5
Len Zanger Sloths are apparently good swimmers. Probably not well enough to survive a hypothetical biblical flood though.
David Triplett It had to hold TEN MILLION animals and their food.
HOW BIG WAS THAT BOAT AGAIN?
Brian Bunce where are you getting “TEN MILLION” from?
3
John Tadler Yup! Me too!
David Triplett In the time Noah allegedly existed, there were aprox. 5 million species of land animal.
5M X 2 = TEN MILLION.
4
John Tadler You mean after correct? We are speaking English here, there were a few versions before KJV interpreted from German but none mass produced KJV 1611.
Mark Anthony Pratt “Queen” James actually, if the truth be told, but that’s another conversation.
David Triplett What was Noah, 3OO YEARS OLD or something? Man, I had to paint my porch last summer. I’m 61 and it dang near wasted me!
Genisis – The Phil Collins Story
3
Bart Hendrix sort of saying the highest point on earth was once under water because the rocks match.
Jeph Noe I’m pretty sure he can be that stupid.
If you did your research you’d discover that your Noah story was taken from the older Summerian account, The Epic of Gilgamesh.
Genesis isn’t the original version.
So if you’re going to argue a flood story try using the original source.
3
David Triplett that’s a lot of full predators.
Terry Hawthorne Scientific fact doesn’t change. There isn’t a Muslim hydrogen atom,a Christian one, or any other religious atom. Erase your religion and my science and my hydrogen atom will come back discovered as the same atom. Maybe a different name but the structure and its story is always the same….
4
Terry Hawthorne and Jesus spoke none of the languages you just stated. Lol
2
Brian Bunce all the microscopic animals no one knew about too. Lol all those single cell organisms and don’t forget, PLANT LIFE DOESN’T TAKE TOO WELL TO ALL THE LAND BEING COVERED IN DRY OCEAN SALT
3
Read Genesis very carefully.
3
Jeph Noe I encourage you to read Genesis very carefully
Carlton Morris Jr. an older version of a story, isn’t necessarily the better version of that story. And a newer version of a story, didn’t necessarily write its story from an older version either.
Terry Hawthorne I encourage you to get a Bible that has not been intentionally mistranslated time and again to include things modern Xtians hate. their own gay children and people who do not live in a fantasy and pray to some idiotic God who has a terrible track record for ignoring his worshippers when they need him most. Either your God is a cruel, capricious, and stupid God who punishes children with cancer and made a world full of toxic and dangerous hazards all around these people he allegedly “Loves” or god does not exist at all. Which is it? Huge Douchenozzle or Fictitious Sky Tyrant?
3
Terry Hawthorne I have read through many versions of the Bible many times growing up. Fiction is a great way to spend free time. But I’m not going to believe orcs are going to show up at my door just I’m not going to believe your sky daddy is going to send eyeball angels to earth…
2
Robert Christopher Sawyer it sounds as if you were there. Because that’s the only way to know except for what was written down. You sound upset. Has something happened to cause this or do you really want an answer, because there are more than your 2 choices.
David Triplett David, I gotta ask!….are all these people your friends!? It seems they all think your comments are funny..??
Norman Ketchie I know I didn’t come from rocks that formed from nothing that made a primordial soup over millions and millions of years that created everything we see today. I know a rock will never turn into a butterfly. So aside from just attacking someone with your opinion, let’s hear your scientific history
Jeph Noe the carnivores were extremely polite and let their prey reach sustainable numbers before eating them. Not sure how those kangaroos got to Australia though…
Terry Hawthorne if humans were vegetarian, why was Abel raising livestock? Can’t tell if you’re trolling or really believe bible nonsense
Jeph Noe Waters recede to the ocean and if the world is all ocean where do they recede to? And secondly how did Noah save the kangaroos since he had no access to Australia, didn’t even know it was there.

David Triplett good joke
David Triplett So explain to us how all the civilizations at the time survived. Were they too busy to notice that they had all drowned? And why is limestone only found at the top? wouldn’t the entire mountain be covered in limestone? and why don’t we find Limestone on top of every mountain that is smaller than Everest? If you take 2 seconds to think about it. the flood doesn’t make any sense. It’s safe to say it’s a fable. Never happened. Otherwise there would be proof of a word wide flood. Spoiler alert. there isn’t.

It is not possible for the Genesis flood story to be literally true. The heat problem alone is enough to sink it but there are so many other problems. Sea life, for example, could not have survived the mixing of salt and fresh waters or the turbidity caused by such a sudden deluge.
To get the variety of species we see today in only 6000 years, animals would have had to evolve at an impossibly fast rate.

David Triplett If you have faith you don’t need evidence. If you have evidence, you don’t need faith. There is no phenomenon that is beyond the understanding and rationality of science; plugging god in to fill in the blanks is not only arrogant, but a logical fallacy. “I don’t know, therefore god” is a logical fallacy.

Yep which is a pretty fast rate, which in earths time scale means India crashed into the Asian central continent not long ago.
This is also why I find the climate crisis and the definitive scientists theories so hard to swallow because the earth is such a constantly changing beast, we’ve been recording weather for around 120 years and probably less so with accuracy but we of course man must be changing it. 120 years in a blink of a blink of a blink of an eye in relative terms. Australia is still moving north east away from
Antarctica etc, there have also been times on earth where volcanos have spewed out more than we have ever caused and the earth is still here.
I think we should look to adapt but adapt to how the planet is changing ie if the water levels rise, move to higher ground etc, and not in a 10 year cycle that cripples economies. We need money to adapt as it the way of the world. Stop wars for a start and be smart move the places most at risk etc to start with.
Edit:
I’m merely debating this? Is our climate response proportional or are we merely falling into the hands of political greed

for those thinking that this somehow validates the Noah’s Flood myth, it takes millions of years of being under seawater to produce limestone. A temporary flood couldn’t do this. Not to mention, the Noah’s Flood story is plagiarized (nearly word for word) from an earlier Mesopotamian story, The Epic of Gilgamesh.

You will have to include though that ice has 9.05% more volume than water. challenge accepted?
