Be careful, fraudsters have taken over POS business. There is a new POS machine. Scammers are using it to scam innocent people . it’s called wallet POS. It’s not from the bank; it is a cloned POS machine. It has a memory card in it that copies your details once u enter your pin. It will store all your information and you can’t trace the transaction because the POS machine, was not issued by any bank.
Don’t ever patronize road side POS vendors that do not have a stand or permanent shop where he or she stays. This is Christmas season and Yahoo guys have brought in these POS machines to dupe people of their hard earn money. Be careful and vigilant.

Wallet POS

Wallet POS is a cloned POS machine that scammers are using to steal customers’ card information. It looks like a regular POS machine, but it has a memory card slot that allows the scammers to store customers’ card information even after the transaction is completed. This information can then be used to make fraudulent purchases or withdraw money from the customer’s account.

How it works

A scammer will typically pose as a legitimate POS operator and offer to process your payment. They will insert your card into the Wallet POS machine and ask you to enter your PIN. Once the transaction is complete, they will hand you back your card and receipt. However, since the Wallet POS machine has stored your card information, the scammer can still use it to make fraudulent transactions, even if you have already left the store.

How to protect yourself

There are a few things you can do to protect yourself from falling victim to this new POS scamming method:

  • Be careful who you give your card to. Only give your card to a legitimate POS operator, such as a cashier or store employee.
  • Be aware of your surroundings. If you notice anything suspicious about the POS machine, such as a memory card slot, do not use it.
  • Ask the POS operator to show you the receipt. The receipt should show the name of the store, the amount of the transaction, and the date and time.
