So did I!! I’m Simon Rickett co founder of Dotifi Web Design.
I’m just an everyday bloke who wants everyday things! When I think back to how life used to be I can’t believe I put up with being so miserable at work for so long! I was a point where my working life didn’t mirror the joys of my personal life.
Like so many others I was working long hours, in a demanding job, that pretty much took up my whole week, resulting in very little time at home.
I was going through a difficult stage at work, where no matter what I did, I didn’t get the recognition I knew I deserved. It got to the point I hated being at work and I knew it was time for a change.
Years of training in psychology, and I kept thinking this just isn’t enough! Kirsty and I got married which was great, Kirsty was a Vet Nurse and I was teaching we were both working really hard and I started thinking, I’ve trained all these years, got what I thought I wanted & it just wasn’t enough!
Then Kirsty fell pregnant and at our 12 week scan we were told our baby would be born with a birth defect known as Gastroschisis. It’s when the bowel grows outside the body through pregnancy and can be corrected after birth, but requires a lot of hospital care once the baby is born.
This was devastating for us both and all I could think of is how would we cope and how would I have the time to ensure I was at home to support my wife through the difficult months ahead. I decided that was it, I wanted to do something on my own, which gave me the flexibility of working from home, working the hours I wanted and most importantly allowed me to be there for my family when needed. I quit my high pressure job and set about setting up on my own.
Our baby daughter Chloe Brooke was born and although a lot of time in hospital at the beginning she has grown into a fantastic little girl and is completely better.
Now that I was someone’s dad and someone’s husband I had this sense of wanting to provide and look after my new family. I wanted to work hard but around them, I knew I couldn’t go back to the conventional life of teaching and really got a buzz out of running my own business.
I couldn’t imagine working for anyone ever again! The business is doing really well and grows from strength to strength. I have the autonomy to decide when I work & when I need a break.
I think to do something like this you have to have a burning desire to branch out on your own, you have to be a bit a risk taker and be prepared to take a chance and believe in your own capabilities, I did and I’ve never looked back.
When I was brain storming there was a few absolute must haves for the business!
It MUST be easy to use!
It MUST be flexible!
It MUST be able to be run as a full time or part time business!
It MUST be received well by local businesses and fit a NEED!

Simon Rickett – Director
Simon’s background is in business psychology and he has lectured at a variety of Universities all over the UK. He has years of experience of working with individuals in achieving their ultimate goals. Looking to the future, Simon has never underestimated the power of internet marketing. He has always been completely focused on delivering affordable on line business solutions as the way forwards for the future.
