When You Meet A Celebrity what Do you Do ? Facebook Users Tells How !

Some years ago, I was travelling to the UK on holiday with my wife. We travelled on the now defunct Virgin Nigeria.

Incidentally on that particular flight that day was the Virgin Atlantic CEO, Richard Branson.

He casually walked into the economy class where we were and while most people acted like they see him everyday, I was so starstruck that I walked up to him and asked to take pictures and videos.

He so graciously agreed and I had a catalogue of memories, some of which was featured in one of my musical videos years ago.

Now, it was only after they noticed that the man did not “shame” me that almost every Nigerian on that flight started asking for pictures.

Nigerians don’t know how to respond to stars…to greatness.

I have no qualms responding in excitement when I see famous people.

Met 2face once about 11 years ago and insisted he takes a picture with my daughter Pearl.

Yes o, a few weeks ago I was on the queue at the airport when I looked behind me and a celebrity I like so much Charles Inojie was standing behind me….you guessed correctly…yes, with his permission, my phone camera came out….Starstruck me strikes again.

Bottomline is that while some people consider me a celebrity of sorts, I have never outgrown being starstruck.

I notice that most Nigerians resist it….

This is why I understand that the young bride was only responding the most natural way anyone who suddenly comes face to face with a star they like will respond.

She was being a girrrrl. She was not disrespecting her husband. All I saw was genuine excitement…

And if she knelt? Well, Moses Bliss is also a minister of the gospel. The anointing upon him can compel.

I really don’t see the need for all the reactions and over “religionising” the incident.

Majority of us are only just displaying our inability to recognize that really there are some special people in this life and it’s okay to react with excitement when we see them….

And reactions will always differ.

Did I mention that Mr Branson upgraded me to Virgin premium class seating for the rest of that flight?
